How to change old wall mounted taps?

Is it possible to DIY change of tap ideally with the wall mounted taps myself … cost effectively without hauling in the plumber ? The tap screws off - so even replacing that would be ideal .. Does Bunnings have any compatible components please?

Re: changing v old tap+/- wall mounted taps with connector

Hello @diyclueless

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your kitchen tap.

If you're looking to change your setup into single pillar taps, I suggest looking at the Shaw & Mason Chrome 45° Female Bib Pillar Tap. These can easily be screwed into your wall outlet, and you can choose your own tap handles. However, if you are looking for a single unit mixer, I recommend looking at the Quoss Chrome Reno Transformer Cobra Flex Single Flix Mixer With Breech Fittings WELS 3 Star 8L/min. This tap allows you to turn a traditional hot/cold tap outlet into a single mixer.

Both these taps allow you to connect directly to your current outlet without having to do any changes to your plumbing.

If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.

Distance between hot and cold faucet/tap centre is 20cm .

Re: changing v old tap+/- wall mounted taps with connector

Hello @diyclueless

The Quoss tap sets are not cheap, but what they do provide is convenience and ease of installation. Your current tap set can be removed with a shifter, if you look closely at the back of your tap set, you'll see that the tap has a flat angled nut that is designed to accept a shifter. Simply turn the installation nut anticlockwise to loosen them up and the tap will come away from your wall. I'm afraid the only other tap I can suggest is the Shaw & Mason Chrome 45° Female Bib Pillar Tap. These are the only other tap you can install without modifying the plumbing.

If you are planning to stay at that property long term, I suggest considering getting the plumber in to modify your plumbing setup so that you can have a standard kitchen mixer installed in your kitchen. Another option is to have your plumbing modified so that you can have a standard kitchen tap such as the EZYFIX Classic Retrofit Wall Sink / Laundry Set WELS 4 Star 7.5L/min Chrome installed on your wall. Due to the configuration of your plumbing, there is not a lot of tap options available to you.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.
