We recently purchased an older style property in need of a makeover. We always operate on a tight budget and do almost the entirety of work ourselves so the Bunnings Kaboodle Kitchen was exactly what we needed.

Starting with the Kaboodle kitchen planner on the Bunnings website, we could design and price exactly what we needed. So simple once you get the hang of it. We chose the “Five Spice” cupboard colour and the “Vanilla Cream” benchtop purely for the fact that they are the cheapest options available and it’s an added bonus that they match well and present nicely for the cost.

As the property is an old Queenslander, it had the old style “Stove alcove area”, we decided to build that in and create a spacious pantry.

We replaced the floor before starting the cabinetry as we were doing the whole area anyway (Bunnings - Bellazza Crema $21.49 per box).

It took approximately 1 day to put all the kitchen cupboards together and fit and level them. Day 2 we put the benchtops, cupboard doors, handles, kickboards, appliances & sink in. Day 3 we tiled the splashback. Day 4 we finished off any odd jobs.

The most time consuming part would have to be adjusting the doors so they sit straight with even gaps etc. It’s definitely not hard, but takes patience.

The kitchen layout was tricky with having 3 entry points/door ways, however we decided to keep that the same to keep costs down.

* Sink, tap ware, rangehood, oven, cooktop, power points, paint, kaboodle kitchen, pantry shelving, flooring, light - ALL FROM BUNNINGS.

Re: Budget-friendly kitchen reno using Kaboodle

Hello @Danielle383

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's fantastic to have you join us, and thank you for sharing your kitchen renovation project.

What an excellent kitchen renovation, the new floor, light-coloured walls and benchtop have really opened up the space. It feels modern, relaxed and makes the kitchen look so much bigger. Preparing the spot for the new refrigerator is such a clever idea. By keeping the sides open you can pretty much slide in a fridge of almost any size. What kind of budget would you recommend preparing if someone wanted to duplicate your effort?

Again. thank you so much for sharing your budget kitchen renovation project.

Eric

Re: Budget-friendly kitchen reno using Kaboodle

Thanks Eric, we really did enjoy doing this and it was something our 6 & 9 year old boys were happy to help with aswell.

The cost for this came in under $5000 and that is including everything (kitchen, sink, all appliances etc). Note that does not include the flooring however as we also laid the tiles ourselves the cost for that was also very reasonable too.

I am very good at sticking to a budget and making selections based on what is available in that price range. Everything we chose was at the lower price point.  However it still presents very well and certainly adds much more value that what it cost us.
