Create a stylish stand to protect your cookbook or tablet device and make it easier to prepare your favourite meals in the kitchen.
This step-by-step shows you how easy it is to build your own stand to hold your page in place while you cook.
Cut the timber.
Mark and then cut your 285mm, 64mm and 42mm timber boards to 300mm in length. This will be the back rest, bottom and front lip of our stand. Take the 89mm x 19mm timber and cut it at a 22-degree angle using a mitre box. Shift the piece over 5cm and cut the board to length. This will serve as the supporting leg.
Pre-drill holes.
Drill holes along the bottom edge of your back rest at 40mm, 104mm, 180mm, and 244mm from the left-hand side. Repeat the process for the bottom section and then the front lip along one of its edges.
Assemble the stand.
Apply glue to the edges of the timber the backrest and bottom section. Clamp the pieces into position. Fix the pieces together using 50mm screws.
Attach the supporting leg.
Locate the centre of your back rest at 142mm and mark it. Pre-drill two holes at 25mm, 40mm from the bottom. Apply glue and then screw through the back rest into the supporting leg.
Apply glue to the front lip of the stand, clamp to the bottom section and attach with screws.
Sand the rough-cut edges of all timber pieces to ensure a smooth finish.
Prime and paint.
Prime the holder with Dulux 1Step primer using your paintbrush and roller. Wait for the primer to dry. Topcoat with Dulux Wash&Wear paint for a durable finish.
