VICTA Electric Lawn Mower Kit 18V 5.0Ah Battery Charger Cordless 16" Supercut battery overheating

Hey everyone,

I’ve got a VICTA Electric Lawn Mower Kit (18V 5.0Ah Battery Charger Cordless, 16" Supercut) and have been having some issues with the battery overheating.

The mower stops working mid-use, and I’ve noticed the side of the battery is burned, which is pretty concerning. The battery is a Briggs & Stratton rechargeable Li-ion model (1697275), and the charger is model 1697272. Both came with the mower, so I’m not sure if the battery is defective or if there’s something else going on.

Has anyone else experienced similar issues with their VICTA mower or Briggs & Stratton batteries? If so, how did you resolve it? Is this a common problem, or should I reach out toVICTA directly?

Appreciate any advice or experiences you can share!

Hi @aisac,

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. We're pleased to have you join us and trust you get loads of help and inspiration for your home improvement projects from our wonderful members.

I assume the battery and mower are out of warranty? We would strongly encourage you to immediate cease using the battery for your safety and dispose of it in a responsible manner at a local recycling service.

If the mower was purchased from Bunnings, you should be able to order a replacement battery via the Special Orders desk at your local store.

Thanks,

Jason

Re: VICTA Electric Lawn Mower Kit 18V 5.0Ah Battery Charger Cordless 16" Supercut battery overh

Hi there- unfortunately I am having battery issues with my mower batteries charging fully - but one not holding power which is causing the mower to last fior next to no time. It also is very quick to fall to zero and compared the the other battery I got, significsny different. I need to return mine to the store as I’ve only just purchased the mower and it’s under warranty. I’m hoping that they can just swap out the batteries and not the entire thing as I was super excited to have an electric victor- unfortunately it’s just been disappointing abc was getting better mileage out of my Ozito  nottom of the range mower that I’d planned to upgrade with a mower line victor one. No burn marks on batteries , terminals clean and tried swapping it over ti charge in offer sudd of sick - even putting faulty battery in other side of the unit ..

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @fiona83. It's terrific to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about Victa lawn mowers.

I'm sorry to hear you've had issues with your new Victa lawnmower.

Since the mower is under warranty, I trust our in-store team will be able to sort out the issue. Typically, in this situation, they would look at swapping the whole machine and batteries over; that way, we know the issue will be resolved. Swapping the batteries over can be troublesome as it could have something to do with the charger and/or lawnmower. I understand you've narrowed the issue down to a battery, but we generally swap everything and give you a new machine. However, the first step is to have the machine assessed by our team, so I'd suggest taking it to your nearest store with your proof of purchase to get the ball rolling.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Mitchell
