Few months back decided I needed to add some drainage around the wife's studio as it was a muddy area (That sat) after rain and turned abit of the lawn into a sludge area not appealing at all, made mowing fun lol
What should have been an easy dig around the studio, put in drainage and be done with it turned into something else completely, I looked at the lay of the land once digging started and thought hmmm I could do a small riverbed kinda thing here, and then as per normal the brain got into bigger and better mode, had an old pond lying around, got the tools out and BHAM took about 4 months all up on and off and we are nearly done, I had a Dragonfruit area up top we have pulled those out and relocated them and stage 2 will commence soon (photos went out of order )

Love those pavers and pebbles! And I am one who usually shys away from pebbles!

thanks mate, the pebbles serve a double purpose, apart from looking pretty cool they are great for drainage, about 6 inches out from the pebbles is a trench all along the length about 450mm deep filled with pebbles, no water at all comes near the house

thanks for the kind words @Baretta11 very happy with the outcome, and yes we have 3 pond areas in the garden and frogs of all types spawn regularly, so many birds, reptiles and insects now call this area home, and its only going to get better

Going off topic a bit but we had a pair of Pluvers nesting near our work shed, only 20mtrs from the doorway but at least safer than where these birds often do nest at times like 10cm from a busy road. Anyway she had been sitting for almost 3 weeks when one morning I came to the shed to find the eggs gone, probably a fox and I was devastated for the hen. I had decided I would protect the area at some distance from the nest with electric fencing so she could still fly in and out but a fox couldn't get to the nest a second time. Anyway long story short she didn't nest again as I figured it would only be a once a year thing but I was prepared to go to the moon and back to help her ha-ha
I have a fishpond next to our home, quite a big one actually and this year after relocating some frogs i'd found away from water, it became lovers lane central and the pond was absolutely brimming with thousands of taddies. No idea where they've all gone but they now love the pond and I;d never had taddies in it until I put those few frogs in there ha-ha
