Re: dying tree

When was the last time you watered, or it rained, and for how long @Cher54? Can you please stick your finger into the soil around the tree at least 10cm deep and tell me if the soil is soaking wet, moist, almost dry or bone dry?

Re: dying tree

Hi @Cher54,

Is it 45 minutes to water the whole garden or just this plant? I'd be looking at a 10-minute soaking once every three days. If there is a clay base and you are watering that frequently, the bottom roots could be sitting in a pool of water constantly.

It might be worth putting up some shadecloth to protect the plant. However, if this was an exposure issue, you'd presume it would have been burnt in the previous years, too. If it's been hotter than in previous years, it might be best to consider whether there's a slightly less exposed spot for the plant unless you're happy to put up shadecloth periodically.
