How to connect Agi pipe to this stormwater drain?

Hi All, I’m trying to connect Agi pipe to the stormwater drain as shown in this picture below. I’m new to this so I’m wondering how can I do it? Thank you!

Re: How to connect Agi pipe to this stormwater drain

Hello @luxiliu

Welcome to the Bunnings workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us and thanks for sharing your question about your stormwater drain.

Since this project involves having your drain coil attached to your stormwater drain, it will be necessary to engage the services of a registered plumber. It is technically a plumbing job and must be carried out to the rules and regulations of the local council.

Generally speaking, the plumber would probably use a drain coil to PVC adapter to link them together. The connection type used will depend on how the the drain coil will approach the stormwater drainpipe. It's possible that the plumber will use a Holman 90mm 45-degree Female To Female PVC Stormwater Junction. But it all depends on the condition of the pipe layout.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

How deep should I dig to connect the Agi pipe to the existing stormwater pipe?

Before I ask a plumber to connect it to the stormwater pipe, I dig the trench myself. Just wondering should I dig until the agi pipe is at the same level of the stormwater pipe? Or dig as deep as 30cm as suggested and plumber has no problem to connect it?

Thank you very much!

Re: How deep should I dig to connect the Agi pipe to the existing stormwater pipe?

Hi @luxiliu,

The water from the agline must drain into the stormwater pipe through gravity. So, the agline can not be below the level of the stormwater pipe.

The deeper you can have the agline, the better, but the water must be able to run downhill and connect to the stormwater pipe at some point.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Re: How deep should I dig to connect the Agi pipe to the existing stormwater pipe?

Thanks Mitchel for your reply.

I am digging along the blue line, but as you said, the other end might not be high enough to let the water run down to the stormwater pipe. If I dig along the red line, I'm worried the agi pipe may not be effective enough to take the water, as this area has a slight slope, the red line is a bit higher than blue line. So which line do you think is better to dig along?

Thank you.

If the slope is towards the slab @luxiliu, it would be best to have the agline closest to the blue line.

If you are trying to collect mainly surface water running down the slope, perhaps consider a surface channel drain rather than an agline.
