We recently moved to a new address. I want to oil a new deck we have just built, but our neighbor's Lilly Pilly tree is flowering. Its like snow falling over our small back yard and deck.
How long is the Lilly Pilly likely to flower and keep showering us with fine petal dust? Once it stops I can oil the deck
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Jfilocamo. It's marvellous to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about Lilly Pilly trees.
Australian Lilly Pilly trees typically flower for about 2 to 3 weeks, usually in spring or early summer, depending on the variety and climate. During this time, they can produce a significant amount of flower debris.
Once the flowering period is over, you should have a much cleaner environment, making it the ideal time to oil your deck. You may need to wait until the flowers have completely dropped and the tree has stopped shedding petals to ensure your deck gets a proper finish without the risk of contamination from the flower debris. Keep an eye on the tree, and once the flowers have fallen and the petals stop dropping, you'll be good to go.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
