Can Gorilla Glue attach galvanised tubes?

dee65fd3-ca25-4619-b397-33d551b134c5.jpeg

Hi, See the picture attached I want to do something similar, instead of welding I want to use Gorialla Glue. How strong it can join the galvanised tubes? What will be its longevity?

Regards

Re: Gorilla Glue for galvanised tubes

Hi @kiranraob4u,

Gorilla Glue wouldn't be suitable for joining galvanised tubes because it’s designed for materials like wood, metal, ceramics, and plastics, but it doesn't provide the structural strength required for holding metal tubes together under load. Glues like this are not strong enough to handle the stress and movement that a metal frame typically endures, especially over time and in outdoor conditions. Galvanised metal also has a protective coating that can reduce the bond strength.

If welding isn't an option, the best alternative would be to drill through the tubes and secure them with bolts. This would provide a much stronger and more reliable connection, ensuring the frame is stable and durable. Make sure to use bolts suitable for outdoor use, like galvanised, to prevent rust and maintain the longevity of the structure.

An alternative to drilling through the square posts would be to use round posts and fittings similar to the ARC Fences 25 / 25mm NB Corner Gate And Fence Fitting. These clamping fittings are a simple way to create a robust frame.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Re: Gorilla Glue for galvanised tubes

Hi Mitchell,

I purchased square tubes 20mm x 20. Welding looks best option for my project (3 posts either sides & 3 in the middle with external beams on all four sides and 1 beam in the middle) length 5.5 m x width 3.5.

I have no experience with welding, is it easy to do welding?

what’s your opinion on discontinued model Ozito AWG-964 vs Ozito 120A Inverter Arc Welder Kit IAW-120.

Thanks

Re: Gorilla Glue for galvanised tubes

Afternoon @kiranraob4u

That welder above would be more than sufficient - and an amazing price.

"is it easy to do welding?"

If a fool like me can do it, I'm sure anyone can. But you're not gonna learn stick welding overnight and thin galvanised square tube wouldn't be the best metal to start out on. You aren't keen on bolts?

Happy to help as best I can.

Keep us informed.

Cheers!

Re: Gorilla Glue for galvanised tubes

Hello @kiranraob4u

Welding is a skill that must be learned from a either a school or a professional instructor.  There are safety rules and procedures you must learn and follow in order to keep your welding space safe for yourself and for any other person in the room. If you are not ready to learn welding, then I suggest thinking about using nuts and bolts. Your other option is to use wood, it's much easier to join together using either nails or screws.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.
