Some people go away for their holidays... and then there’s me, who takes four weeks leave to build shed.
There was sort of a plan - a couple of drawings and some framing layouts, but nothing spectacular. After a year and a half of collecting unwanted timber, house wrap, insulation, Colorbond, trim, OSB and screws from local house construction, I was ready to go. Purchased some framing timber, flooring and timber for the subfloor, five sheets of OSB and the Ryobi 3 piece nailer / stapler set. Add two secondhand windows and assorted flashing and fixings, stir in a dollop or door hardware and cap with the 5.1m x 240mm LVL bearer I found on the side of the road.
Solved! See most helpful response
Thanks mate
Indeed it appears it does come down to states and regions, I just don't understand why it's NSW that seems to always be at the short end of the stick. Once upon a time it wasn't so.
Yeah been there done that, I always seem to get the glazed eyes treatment. Not saying the staff aren't trying to be helpful but it's always kiind of "You want what??" kind of response, and there is always the "we are only a small store" as if we (seniors) don't remember the days when there weren't big box stores - the hardware stores then still seemed to have one of everything.
I'm so with you on this.
I've said it before - if I had 5 cents for every time I got blank looks when asking for a standard hardware item, Bill Gates would be my poor relation.
I miss my tiny hardware store that could magically produce anything like Felix the Cat from the bag of tricks.
And the biggest stores are just as guilty of this.
Gotta say I love this shed - nothing better than a good scrounge job!
Just love your plan @Kiwifr33 - I have a book that I used for all of my projects so it easier to find than scraps of paper. And good to look back on when done. Then you can say TICK another job done.
The noise issue seems great. I have to try and do something as my neighbor complains all the time... about all and ever bit of noise she hears at my place...
Can hardly wait to see the completed fit out.. Keep up the great work..
@Old-gal24
@Kiwifr33 Great use of the top section of a Hutch. Have though of doing the same, but just don't know where I would put mine. Shed organisations coming along nicely great work.
Cheers.
Hello, looks great. New builder here just wanted to know what size ceiling joist did you use? Looks similar to the stud size Thanx
Sorry @Brendan, notifications went walkabout for a while!
Ceiling joists were 90x45, so were all the corner and top and bottom plates in framing with a mix of scrap 90x35 and 70x45 for infill. Cutoffs of LVL for most of the headers, although I think I made one of the window ones.
