What Ryobi products and batteries are compatible?
I am planning to get a cordless Ryobi lawn mower: https://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-lithium-36v-5-0ah-18-brushless-lawn-mower-kit_p0088131
And I also need a drill and looking at this one: https://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-18v-one-drill-driver-skin-only_p0096074 which is a skin only. How do I know if I can use the mower's battery for this drill? And in general how do I tell which Ryobi products will share batteries? Thanks.

Re: I purchased a 36V Brushcutter mower it has 36 V40.ah battery and charger can I use 36V5.0ah
Last week I bought 2x5Amp 36v Ryobi batteries for our self propelled mower which is now 6 years old. Previous we had 4 Amp batteries. We discovered of course it will work but the battery lid doesn't close because the battery is physically higher. I know there is an adaptor for this problem but not sure where to buy it as I don't see it online at Bunnings? So answer to your question is yes it will work but the older mowers which have the lower battery cover won't close.

Re: I purchased a 36V Brushcutter mower it has 36 V40.ah battery and charger can I use 36V5.0ah
Hi @glenn3676
The extension plate comes included with some of the larger capacity batteries that were compatible with a range of models dating back to I'm not sure when. It's not available in-stores but is available as a special order through your local Bunnings store. They can get you a price and availability and order the product through Ryobi.
This video shows how it fits in to place
In the meantime as you have discovered, the mower will perform perfectly even though the cover doesn't fit fully. You should see an increase in both performance and runtime.

36V Ryobi Battery won't fit chainsaw
I have a Ryobi RCS36B35 36V chainsaw I have bought new 4Ah batteries but they would seem to be physically slightly larger and won’t fit the chainsaw. Any ideas what battery that needs to be bought?

Re: 36V Ryobi Batte
Hi @Turvs,
A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community and thank you for your question.
As the Ryobi RCS36B35 is an older model of chainsaw, it came with the original 5Ah 36V batteries that Ryobi produced. This tool has since been superseded by newer models and the design of Ryobi's 36V batteries has been improved, which came with a slight change in shape. Unfortunately, your model of chainsaw is one of the tools that the battery's shape changes affect and consequently, there are no longer compatible batteries for sale.
I have reached out via PM to offer further assistance.

Re: 36V Ryobi Batte
Hi @Turvs
further to @JacobZ information, the change in battery shape and physical size coincided with a new model chainsaw. One of the main design changes was to have an open slide battery fitment over the drop in style your model has. This allows for future larger battery capacity releases.
Unfortunately without going to a new smaller capacity battery pack, you might need to look at the 2nd hand market or online stock of older model batteries.

36v lithium battery vs 40v lithium battery
I have a Ryobi 36v 5.0 ah mower. I can't purchase a 5.0ah anymore.
I can now purchase a 36v 6.0 ah battery BUT I now see online that there are batteries that are 40v 6.0ah.
I have websites saying you can't use 40v in a 36v a tool as it will damage the motor, then other websites saying you can.
Does any tech person know the real answer please?

Re: 36v lithium battery vs 40v lithium battery
Hello @dawnw
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's wonderful to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about the Ryobi batteries.
I've just been in contact with the Ryobi technical support team, and they advise not to use the 40V battery on your 36V mower. Aside from incompatibility there is the possibility of damaging the 36V motor of the mower.
If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.

How to increase running time of Ryobi mower?
I have this mower R18XLMW40 I run it with 4 ah batteries but it only runs for 30 mins. I asked at my local Bunnings to buy the 2x8ah batteries they said it wouldn’t work because they were too big and for that reason it will not be able to shut the cover properly. Is that right?

Re: ryobi mower
Hello @fr
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your Ryobi mower.
The Ryobi 18V ONE+ 8.0Ah HP Battery is indeed taller than the Ryobi 18V ONE+ 4.0Ah Lithium Battery and will not allow it to fit properly into the battery bay of the R18XLMW40. Another factor that will not allow you to use the 8.0Ah battery is that your mower is included in the incompatibility list. As an alternative, I suggest looking at the Ryobi 18V ONE+ 5.0Ah Lithium High Performance Battery - Twin Pack for your mower.
If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.
