Hi team,
Looking for advice on replacing a hail-damaged decorative roof sheet on my front gate pergola (photos below).
The current sheet is a single piece, moulded with a shingle-like pattern—probably fibre cement or something similar. It’s not structural, just cosmetic, and screwed in from underneath.
I’d like to:
• Replace the entire sheet
• Use something precut to avoid cutting fibre cement
• Ideally match the shingle/weatherboard texture
• Paint it myself (I already have the colour matched)
I’m open to fibre cement or exterior plywood, as long as it holds up outdoors. Does Bunnings stock anything close to this—either a patterned sheet or something I could dress up with paint or grooves?
Photos below show the outside and underside. Appreciate any suggestions!
Cheers
Hi @Bluetooth,
The profile is looking very similar to Weathertex 225 x 1196 x 9.5mm Plus Classic Shingles. You'd likely need to pick up a piece to match it with the existing one. It's masonite, so unlike fibre cement, it is easy to cut with a hand saw.
Just a heads-up that asbestos was used in older properties. If the roofing dates back before the mid-90s, there's a chance it could be asbestos and should be treated as such unless positively identified as not being by a testing company.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
