I have a rusty hole in the roof of the shed. From what I’ve read, is the procedure required to scrape out the rust, put rust converter on the spot and apply Crommelins exterior grade waterproofing? Or can you suggested a better repair method. Thanks

Re: Rusty hole in corrugated aluminium work shed roof.

Hi @Franbote,

That would be a general method. However, your hole is so large that you'd need to add some Crommelin 100mm x 10m Reinforcing Fabric over the hole first to stop the Crommelin 1L Exterior Grade Brushable Waterproofer from falling through it. Paint some of the waterproof around the hole, stick the fabric down and then paint over it with another couple of coats.

The other option is to go with a Consolidated Alloys 50mm x 10m Weatherproof Byute Flash Flashing Tape over the area.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Re: Rusty hole in corrugated aluminium work shed roof.

Thank you for your guidance on repairing the hole.
Is this method the best solution and most cost effective with the Crommelins products or is there a better alternative like replacing a sheet or the shed?
Thank you again

Morning @Franbote

"is there a better alternative like replacing a sheet or the shed?"

Yes, that's what I would be doing = replace the sheet (or sheets).

Re: Rusty hole in corrugated aluminium work shed roof.

Thanks for the tips.

How do I replace the corrugated aluminum sheet, any tutorial, please?

Thanks.

Re: Rusty hole in corrugated aluminium work shed roof.

Hi @SyedJaffry,

Thank you for your question about replacing corrugated sheets.

The process is fairly simple, requiring you to unscrew and remove the old sheet and replace it with a suitably sized sheet in the same profile. You can use roofing screws to attach the new sheet.

Measuring across from the existing sheet at both the top and bottom will ensure that it is placed perfectly square and parallel to the existing sheets. This will give you the best finish possible.

Let me know if you have any further questions.
