How to insulate my tin shed?

I have a 3x3 tin shed i want to install insulation in. Ive looked into the foilboard option. If I choose foil board how do I glue it onto the surface and can I put it on the exterior of the shed rather than on the inside.

Re: what's the best way to insulate my tin shed

Hi @Imz93,

Thank you for your question about installing foilboard in your shed.

Unfortunately, without additional framing and cladding, no insulation can be installed on the outside of your shed.

In this scenario, Foilboard on the inside of the shed will be your best option. They have provided an Installation Guide for Sheds, which will guide you through the recommended process.

The installation guide calls for you to attach Foilboard Spacer Blocks to the tin with heat resistant silicone such as this Selleys Roof And Gutter Silicone Sealant, then attach the foil board panels to the spacer blocks with the same sealant.

Once the panels are installed, you can tape the joins with Foilboard 48mm x 50m Silver Tape to seal everything up.

Let me know what you think, and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Just a note for our New Zealand members, that the use of foil-based insulation products is prohibited.
