the tongue slide does not slide properly, it comes out of the railing when fully pushed back.

Have you tried applying a small amount of lubrication to see whether that restores functionality? Failing that, I presume the lock would still be within the warranty period as Lockwood has a 25-year mechanical warranty. If so and it was purchased through us, I'd be happy to facilitate a return on it for you; all we'd need would be your proof of purchase.
