Hi,
So I've been told by one person that my roof racks may not be strong enough to secure an awning but just wanted to get some more advice as I've already bought the awning and would love to attach it to my Honda CRV but this is definitely not my area of expertise so would love any advice or thoughts please 😊 is it possible or is there a way to secure it further?
Hi @ashjey,
Thank you for your question and welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is wonderful to have you with us.
This is something you'll have to confirm with the manufacturer of the roof racks and the manufacturer of the awning.
They will be able to advise on the compatibility of the products and whether they are capable of supporting the loads placed on them by the awning.
Let me know if you have any further questions.

Thanks for the reply and info - i'll have to see if i can find the original owner's details as have no idea where the roof racks are from but definitely a good idea to make sure they can bear the weight!
Hi @ashjey
All the big name brands of racks will have their logo somewhere visible. If not then its possible they maybe OEM. In which case you could try your local Honda dealer.
Having said that. My experience with awnings is that they typically need to be fitted to racks with extended bars to get the clearance required. See image below. If need be swapping out your current ones, would be straight forward.
