More than just somewhere to keep the car, the garage is often the place for storing tools, bikes, camping gear and so much more. Things can easily get very messy.
Fortunately, the Bunnings Workshop community has shared many ideas for keeping the garage tidy. Here are a range of creative storage solutions members have shared.
1. Garage storage makeover by @lcooksey88
With the goal of increasing storage space and providing a functional workspace, this garage makeover uses Pinnacle storage products such as peg boards to mount and display tools.
2. Garage mud room using Flexi storage by @HousevsSarah
A D.I.Y. custom cabinet project turned a cluttered garage into a well-organised storage space for everyday items, and Sarah shared step-by-step directions for building your own.
3. Mobile workbench with storage and drawer by @Adrianno
A mobile workbench to make the most of limited garage space, providing a solid work surface that can be rolled out into the middle of the garage, plus storage space for tools.
4. Portable workbench and garage shelving by @Tara86
A bespoke portable workbench with lockable castor wheels, space for her drop saw and plenty of storage alongside D.I.Y. vertical shelving.
5. Built-in garage workshop storage with bi-fold doors by @emmakeshome
Plywood and DAR Pine housing Flexi Storage Home Solutions helped create much more storage space in this garage.
6. Garage makeover with DIY cabinets by @marikaknows
Fresh paint and home-made cabinets gave this garage a bright new look.

This garage organisation project included making custom heavy-duty brackets for a floating timber workbench and shelves.

A workbench upcycled with wheels and a larger frame to offer more workspace and make it portable.
10. Garage laundry makeover by @Hotwheelsnz
A corner of the garage was transformed into a spacious laundry using Flatpax cabinet users, mosaic tiles, timber benchtop and Flexi Storage shelves. It was the winner of best laundry makeover in our 2024 search for New Zealand's best D.I.Y. projects, highlighting that garages can be very flexible spaces!
