A large backyard studio for a home office, built with ply walls and an epoxy resin floor.
Building a 6 x 9m studio for my fiancé's work. We will be doing an epoxy resin floor, ply walls and roof and insulation.
The electrical work is nearly done and all power lines are laid. The air conditioner lines are in, and I will start to box it out soon. I'm going to sheet it with ply as there will be a lot of pegboard and shelves going in there.
Roof lined, beams to box.
Walls insulated and lined.
Sliding glass door boxed out.
Windows boxed, trim to come.
Access door boxed.
Roof all in.
Ready to paint and start on the epoxy resin floor.
Between work and a million jobs going on at one time, we have all but prepared the studio for painting.
Getting to the business end of the build now. Will do an undercoat on the walls and roof seeing as it's all ply and will soak up a lot of paint. Nearly all done now – will tidy up a few bits and bobs and then get the final top coat on.
On the home stretch – got most of the painting done, floor will be finished shortly, and if I do say so myself, it's looking amazing.
Well pleased with the ply. We were looking at Gyprock initially but the nature of her work lent itself to ply as there will be loads to hang up, including pegboards, and it looks great.
When preparing the ply for painting, make sure the smooth side is facing you, do a light sand and away you go. We found that we needed to do a few light patches with filler over the knots, then a good primer and your top coat.
Played with the Berger Jet Dry today. First coat down, and it came up a treat.
Pulling in a couple of large tables we purchased recently. These will be used for some of the larger machines.
It's all moving along swimmingly. Just in the process of hanging two large mirror doors on a runner, and then I will put up the large pegboard display panels. I have the Swann going in soon, and I will probably end up putting an electric winch onto the roof just in case she needs to lift something heavy. The air con will be sorted out in the next couple of months and I'll finish weather proofing the access door. Apart from that the studio is rocking and rolling.
Workshop member Seaton built this double garage and workshop that includes a mezzanine level for storage, an epoxy floor and LED strips with brackets created on a 3D printer.
Nice looking shed! I do like the ply boards you have used.
I really like how you have hidden the steel joists behind the plywood Makes it look like thick barn supports!
