Hi all, I'm looking to re-stain my bathroom bench top. It's looking a bit weary and needs to be freshened up. Ideally, I'd like to keep it the same colour or go a little bit darker. Can someone please step me through the process and also suggest products that I need to buy? I've never done this before so the more detail the better. Thanks!
Hello @stanalive
Thanks for sharing your question about how to restain your timber vanity benchtop. The general steps are to sand the surface back to timber. The surface then needs to wipe down and all traces of sanding debris removed. Looking at your setup, it might be necessary to remove the vanity basin so that you can get to its bottom part.
Before you begin, I suggest creating a sealed area with plastic drop sheets held in place with painter's tape. This is to prevent the sanding dust from going everywhere including your bedroom.
