Hello, Im in the process of renovating bathrooms for water damage.
Replacing wall sheets and studwork, my intention is to fix Villaboard over the blockwork (and other walls)
to improve waterproofing before tiling the area.
What do i use for this pls ?
Hi @st0rm,
Thank you for your question and welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.
When installing Villaboard over blockwork, the James Hardie approved method is to batten out the wall using either timber or furring channel before installing the Villaboard over the top.
Have a good read of the Villaboard Lining Installation Guide paying close attention to page 9 and 10.
I'd suggest battening out the block wall using 70x35 framing timber with 90mm Plascourse attached to the wall side of the timber using staples. This will prevent direct contact between the timber and the blocks which can create moisture issues.
Once the plascourse is in place, attach the timber to the wall using Ramset 6 x 60mm Countersunk DynaBolts at 300mm centres.
Now the battens are in place, install the Villaboard following the installation guide above.
Let me know if you have any further questions, I'm more than happy to help.
