How to fix soft close drawer that keeps disconnecting?

Hi there, I'm having some trouble with our soft close drawers. One of the drawers seems to disconnect from the soft close spring at the back when I close the drawer. I've taken all of the drawers out and swapped them all around, and it seems that one particular drawer is the culprit, making any runner i attach it to disconnect upon closing. The other drawers don't seem to do this.

I've checked that the runner is installed straight using a spirit level, and it seems to be fine. The pic below is two of the drawers. The top one is the one that keeps disconnecting. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Re: Soft Close Drawer Runners - soft close keeps disconnecting

Hello @LizP

Thanks for sharing your question about your drawer runner. Can I please request for a photo of the inside runner in the cabinet. Specifically, the soft close mechanism at the back. Some runner units need their pistons reactivated in order for the soft close mechanism to work. However, if it still fails to activate the only solution is to change it and get a new drawer runner.

If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.

The same drawer makes both of these runners click shut at the spring, I have pulled out and reattached the little hook numerous times and this one drawer just keeps disconnecting it. But the other drawer seems to be fine with these same runners. Hope that makes sense?

Re: Soft Close Drawer Runners - soft close keeps disconnecting

Hello @LizP

There is a clear plastic clip on the inside drawer runner that needs to be pulled forward so that it is in the activated state. Please do not force the fitting if it refuses to move. Please give it a try and let me know if it works. I've placed a few photos below to give you an idea of what position it's supposed to be in.

If you need further assistance, please let me know.

Thanks Eric, I can see the clear plastic clip, and I've been pulling this forward and clicking it into place, but then when I close the drawer, the plastic clip detaches and the spring releases and slides back.

This pic is before trying to close

(read this second)

And these pics are after trying to close. The drawer just out and the plastic clip is disconnected

Re: Soft Close Drawer Runners - soft close keeps disconnecting

Hello @LizP

I suspect that the clip system for the soft close drawer set has finally worn down. It's supposed to stay in place and the drawer closes softly even with force applied. Kaboodle drawer runners have a 10-year warranty. If this is a Kaboodle set, then you can apply for the warranty if it's still in the warranty period. However, if it's not a Kaboodle set, I propose replacing it with the Kaboodle Soft Close Drawer Runner - 1 Set

They're actually brand new! Do you think I should try returning them?

Re: Soft Close Drawer Runners - soft close keeps disconnecting

Hello @LizP

Yes, please return them to the store you purchased it from and remember to bring your docket. Before leaving with your new drawer runners, please open a packet and make sure to test that they work properly in front of a kitchen team member.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.
