How to fix dripping toilet cistern tap?

Hi there, 

My toilet was taking a long time to refill after flushing, when I was trouble shooting I turned the cistern tap off. When I turned it back on it started dripping. It feels kind of loose? 

Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you 😊

Is it possible to get some photos of the tap with an indication of where the leak is coming from?

Seeing the style of tap and the location of the drip will help us narrow down a possible fix.

It's possible that you may just need to tighten one of the connections using a set of Multigrip Pliers or add some Thread Seal Tape to the thread.

It's hard to know for sure without seeing the tap.

It appears that the cistern tap is a number of years old. You could take the time to investigate, take it apart locate the leak and search for spare parts. The other option is to upgrade your cistern tap with a Brasshards 1/4 Turn Mini Cistern Tap 15mm Chrome Lead Free.

This is the best cistern tap you can replace it with. It's lead free and uses a ceramic disc which means that even when left on for an extended period the ceramic disc will not deteriorate like rubber. Please remember to use plumber's tape on all the threaded sections.

Unfortunately, we don't have a guide for that, as replacing the tap would require a plumber, as it is considered plumbing work.
