How to add a toilet to a small laundry?
Our laundry space is 2.1 x 2.0. It is unrennovated and l am planning on adding a toilet. The plumber who came said we would need to put the sink, toilet and washing machine all on one side. I'm keen to hear suggestions as to how to plan it and still get as much cupboard space as possible. The door is a sliding one but it in the opposite side to where the water outlets are.
I've made some tentative outlines in the kea programme and have some ideal pictures. I believe l can minimise the toilet space to 800mm.....
Happy to hear any thoughts / suggestions. Thanks all!

Re: Small laundry, adding a toilet
With you allready proposed space
Will the toilet not fit into the corner ?
A standard sort of loo is approx 400mm across make it 500 for elbow room just need to consider knee room re the cupboard in front maybe a built in wall toilet will give extra room.
This will preserve your cupboard space and plumber s prefered installtion of it close to other plumbing.
Other will chime in too

Re: Small laundry, adding a toilet
Thanks for the reply!
The plumber said that i should ensure there is 900mm of space around it! Seems like a lot so i'm glad you are suggesting it can be smaller.
I'm hoping to move the sliding door so it is in the centre of the room, that way we can have a second bench and cupboards to the ceiling.

Re: Small laundry, adding a toilet
Hi @Georgiegrrll,
A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community.
Unfortunately, I do not have access to the Australian and New Zealand Standards relating to this kind of installation, but your plumber's advice should be listened to as they are the experts on this topic.
If you measure out 900mm, it's honestly not a lot of room, so going smaller than this will make it very cramped. 800mm of space is not a massive reduction, but I can't say for certain whether this is in line with the relevant standards.
Ultimately, your plumber will be the one installing it, which involves warranting the installation, so they would need to be comfortable putting their name to the installation.
If you can utilise the corner, that would be ideal, but your plumber will need to be consulted before you make any decisions.
Let me know if you have any further questions.

Let me see if experienced renovators @Nailbag, @Renowayoflife and @homeinmelbourne have any thoughts they could add to this discussion.

Re: Small laundry, adding a toilet
The minimum Australian standard width space is 760mm with a preferred space of 900mm, which your plumber recommended. Though going less than 760mm might suit your needs, may come an issue when time to sell.
As an experiment, position a tub as the bowl next to a wall and set up on the other side a timber sheet or something to represent the other wall at the various distance to get a feel for the space your planning for the toilet. remember you have to fit a toilet roll holder somewhere. These ideally should be fixed 200mm in front of the bowl and around 660mm up from the floor. At the bare minimum somewhere you can easily access that wont get banged by your body getting up and down.

Re: Small laundry, adding a toilet
Hello @Georgiegrrll
I've just seen your laundry design and have put together a quick proposed layout for you. I suggest turning the linen cabinet sideways so that you'll have more space for your legs when you are sitting down. This gives the impression that there is more space and does not make the toilet totally cramped into the corner. I'm not sure if you have a dryer but I've incorporated it into the design. The trade-off will be the size of the laundry tub as it will now be just a 450mm and a standard round sink will go in. Please have a look and tell me what you think.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
