A laundry refurbished with new vinyl flooring, sink, taps and benchtop.
The project
In February 2022, I completed a full laundry and toilet renovation. To save money I made a decision to create everything from scratch from the cabinetry to the benchtops.
I started by pulling up all the blue tiles with a demolition hammer. This really made the job a lot quicker and easier on the knees. I was able to complete this job in a couple of hours.
After the demolition was completed, I moved on to building the cabinets from scratch. I had never built any cabinets before but after watching D.I.Y. videos on YouTube and searching the Bunnings website, I felt confident I could undertake this challenge. I was able to get the 19mm sheets of wood cut to size at Bunnings, making it easier to transport home.
I was able to cut the wood to size using a Makita circular saw and a table saw. I then constructed the cabinets using a Kreg pocket hole jig I purchased from Bunnings. Using the pocket hole jig meant I didn’t need to use clamps and jointing biscuits and have to wait for the glue to dry. This method made constructing the cabinets a lot faster.
To help keep the cabinet square, I purchased four Trojan 75mm mitre and corner clamps.
With the flooring, we laid floor leveller and then waited for the required time before we laid the Senso Natural Ballerina vinyl planks. These planks were self-adhesive and very easy to lay.
For the benchtops, the stars aligned one day when I was in Bunnings, and I was able to pick up an Ash solid utility hardwood panel on clearance for $99. For extra durability in the laundry, I used the Feast Watson spar marine vanish to seal the top of the wood.
For our sink, I picked up the Estilo single bowl stainless steel square sink. I replaced all the tapware with a Shaw and Mason black washing machine set and a Shaw and Mason laundry set.
The walls were painted with Dulux Lexicon and Dulux Duck Egg Blue.
We decided we wanted the sink to be black, so we painted it with Rust-Oleum ultra cover matt black spray paint and sealed it with multiple coats of matt clear spray sealer.
I have a little Maltese Pomeranian dog named Lola. To make sure she loved the laundry as much as we did, I created an in-built doghouse underneath the sink.
My favourite part of the laundry would have to be the pull-out laundry hamper I created.

That has come up a dream! Looks so much tidier and more useful! Love it when we find "deals" at bunnings lol It makes the day brighter especially if its something we need!
How is the sink holding up paint wise? I do like the colouring you have done on it.

Hi @Dave-1
Let me tag @Katiethediymum to make sure they are aware of your question. It would be good to get an update about the sink and see how the paint job is holding up.

Hello @kinjall
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's a pleasure to have you join us.
I suggest starting out with these guides - How to plan a laundry renovation and How to plan a bathroom renovation. These guides will give you ideas on what to take into consideration when you draw up your plans. I recommend starting a new conversation by pressing that big red button at the top that says, "Ask a question".
I propose splitting your posts into separate projects one for your laundry and one for your bathroom so that the recommendations don't get mixed up. Write down all your questions and share them with the community. Our members will be more than happy to provide advice and information.
