Hi, I have just used Dunlop FC Jointing compound to set some blue board joints on an external wall … I could not get a flush finish between each board, wondering if that matters in terms of weather proofing etc?
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @tobes. It's brilliant to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about joint setting.
Could you provide some more details and perhaps share some images of the joint areas? If you’re having trouble uploading pictures, I can assist with that.
It’s essential to ensure the sheets align well before setting the joints, not only for aesthetic reasons but also to ensure a durable and long-lasting result. If the sheets are misaligned by just a few millimetres, this may not be a significant issue, but if the gap is noticeably larger, it could compromise the joint's integrity and lead to early failure. Proper alignment is especially important for weatherproofing, as large gaps may allow moisture to penetrate and cause damage over time.
Once we can see the situation more clearly, I can provide specific advice on how to address the joint and ensure a secure finish.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
