I was happy to try Ozito as I purchased a telescopic hedge trimmer that is very good.
I have not had such a good experience with the electric line trimmer.
1. The line feeder mechanism just doesn't work. It is possible to manually feed however that is very time consuming and has to be done very often.
2. Sometimes no lines are present despite finding plenty of lead on the lead cassette.
3. Sometimes one lead is present and the other is not feeding at all because it is fused (welded") to itself in the cartridge.
3. Often, I check why no lead is feeding and find the lead is fused ("welded") to itself in the cartridge.
Overall it is a very frustrating garden tool that does not live up to what is said about it - e.g., line feeding mechanism does not work, the line is fused to itself in the cartridge, the lines sometimes tangle.
Hello @Oscarbookworm
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's wonderful to have you join us, and thank you for sharing your question about your Ozito line trimmer.
I'm sorry to hear you're having spooling issues with your line trimmer. This phenomenon often happens when the spool is loosely loaded. Tension failure happens inside the spool causing it to entangle itself in an unpredictable manner. I've placed a video below that should help you reload your spool.
If you have any other questions we can help out with, please don't hesitate to post them.

I use prepared spools i.e., ready for use.
There is the possibility that the prepared roll has become loose. I recommend re-loading the line to be sure that there is no slack whatsoever in the spool. Please note to make sure that the top line goes to the top hole and bottom line to the bottom hole. At this point we are going to try and eliminate the possible causes of line entanglement. Double check that the spool has seated properly onto locking mechanism of the spool assembly. It should not move forward, but you can twist it back with an audible clicking locking noise.
The Ozito electric line trimmer dispenses the cutting line on start up and wind down. I suggest putting out a short piece of the line just shy of the line cutting blade. Lightly test it on some short grass and observe if you still get line entanglement.
Please keep us updated with your progress, We look forward to seeing your line trimmer working perfectly.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.

In have tried multiple rolls and checked the slack. It makes no difference.
I am not aware of a top line hole and bottom line hole for the electric line trimmer. They are the same.
The spool assembly is seated correctly, the cover would not work if it was not.
The spool does not move forward only backwards as it should.
Ozito electric line trimmer does not dispense the cutting line on start up and wind down.
I have released lines just shy of the cutting blade. It works works for seconds and when I check the line is at least half the length it should be. The line is not dispensed.
Thank you very much for the update. I'm sorry none of my suggestions worked. Since you've tried all of the recommendations I've made, I'm afraid your only avenue is to bring the line trimmer to the store you purchased it from and speak to the Power Gardening specialist. Before proceeding please make sure to bring your docket/proof of purchase with you. Please make sure to bring the charger and battery of the original line trimmer.
The team member will then make a physical assessment of the line trimmer, and if they conclude that it is faulty, the next step will be to ascertain if the unit is still under warranty. If it is, they will then proceed to process the warranty for you.
If you need further assistance, please let me know.
Eric
The Ozito line trimmer is plugged into mains power, it is not battery operated.

For all of time, trouble, costs: it isn't worth all of the returns process, etc. when the outcome is likely to be a replacement of the same item.
The time trouble and costs would be better put into obtaining a line trimmer that has been quality checked beforehand and works first time.
I do not recommend the ozito-500w-290mm-electric-line-trimmer
and it seems that I am not alone https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/ozito-ltr-529
Hi @Oscarbookworm,
Many thanks for your patience during the troubleshooting stage. I'll reach out via PM to see if I can assist with streamlining the returns process for you, as your machine is clearly faulty. Simply return the unit to your local store with your proof of purchase, and they can credit the cost of this machine towards any other you wish. You might like to check out the Ryobi 1200W Line Trimmer, which can have a Ryobi 2.7mm Pro Cut II Trimmer Head attached to it. This allows you to do away with the spool cartridge entirely.

Hi @Oscarbookworm,
I've spoken to Kelly, the Operations Manager and Stephan, the Power Gardening team member at your local Bunnings, and they are both more than happy to provide a credit on that machine. Please see either Kelly or Stephan when you head into the store. You'll just need a proof of identity card for the return without a receipt.
I apologise for the inconvenience you've experienced and hope the machine you choose performs much better.

Thank you for your assistance, Mitchell
I did return the line trimmer today and received a credit note and assurance the trimmer would be returned to manufacturer with my notations.
