Hungry for new skills
Workshop community update #89
Hi all,
“Possibly the greatest thing about D.I.Y. for me is learning something new,” says Roy Quinsey in our recent interview. “I’m always hungry for new building skills, and having a knock-about at a D.I.Y. project is my favourite way to learn.”
Roy was also pleased to discover the Workshop community. “It’s a bunch of helpful Aussies ready to lend you their time to help you with D.I.Y. problems.”
Feel free to post your D.I.Y. questions anytime you need a hand. It's wonderful that helpful members like Roy and many others are always happy to share their knowledge and experience whenever they can.
It’s been another interesting few weeks on Workshop, with plenty of D.I.Y. and gardening discussion. Some of the most popular recent Workshop posts have included:
- Members like @Tara86 and @Rolando shared fantastic garage and shed storage ideas
- @Adam_W finished his first garden area, including a native hedge at the front of his property
- @Kiwifr33 has provided updates on his exciting new shed build
- Talented Workshop newcomer @Poppop made a big splash on the community with an array of impressive projects using fence palings, including raised garden beds, an adjustable day bed and a garden bridge
- @aly shared photos of her new fence and is looking for suggestions on oiling or painting
- Members discussed whether mounting a television above a fireplace was a good idea
- @Juzz85 posted about her front garden project
- @LePallet shared a three-tier donut stand made from pallet wood as well as a fantastic mud kitchen for kids, complete with working tap and waste
- @ProjectPete started a new discussion thread to document his new double storey house build
- @Grub80 asked for advice about growing tomatoes in winter while @Sporky and other members shared photos of the success they’ve been enjoying in their gardens recently
- @PartyDad successfully patched some holes in the wall following some “over-enthusiastic dancing” at a birthday shindig
- @kaylah_rose rose got some strategies for dealing with pantry moths and expert advice on organic pest control
- New members like @Monument, @ranny and @Electron discussed installing new sensor security lights
- @Vicki65 got advice for installing a dog door at a rental property.
