How to stain new exterior timber door?
Hi,
Sorry if this has already been answered before.
We recently had a new door and frame installed and I need to stain it. I want to have a clear finish to keep the colour of the natural wood.
I would love to get some advice on what type of paint to use.
Thanks a lot.

Re: How to stain new exterior timber door
Hi @tmoyn,
Any product you use to seal the exterior of the door will darken its colour and diminish that raw unnourished look to some extent. For the internal side, Bondall 1L Monocel Satin Waterbased Clear Varnish is one of the best products I've seen that doesn't significantly change the look.
For the exterior, you could try some Cabot's 500ml Clear Satin Exterior Timber Finish to see if you are happy with the effect. It's not going to change the timber to a different colour as it doesn't include a stain, but it will darken it, similar to if the timber were wet.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Mitchell
