Hi All
Recently bought a house and one of my first projects I’m tackling is redoing these rotted eaves on each corner of the house. I can see the leaking/overflowing gutters are causing the problem and have a temporary solution for them in the mean time. Wanting to know what kind of timber I need to replace them with and what’s involved with replacing the rotted sections.
Hello @brodymcl
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your fascia boards.
It is difficult to tell what size you'll be needing as the gutters are covering the front of the fascia. You'll only be able to tell what size you'll need once the gutters have been removed. But for general reference it will need to be treated to a level of H3. Fascia timber sizes vary and can start from 180mm x 19mm and go bigger or smaller.
This type of repair is involved and will require the disassembly of your gutters. Plus, there may be damage to the roofing rafters as well. But you'll only be able to tell once everything has been disassembled. In this instance, I recommend engaging the services of a registered builder so that the repair will be done safely and to code.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
