How to replace floating floor boards?

How to replace floating floor boards?

I'm too ashamed to explain how the water ingress remained undetected for so long - but you see the damage.

I was thinking of experimental surgery by removing the affected section with a multi-function tool and replacing new boards with glue to the concrete.

If the boards consent - what tool blade?

How to cut an acceptable straight line?

What glue?

Will the unaffected adjacent board flex too much, with the remaining underlay?

Has anyone pioneered this surgery before?

Feasible?

Any thoughts welcome! 👍

I saw this glue recently...

Re: How to replace floating floor boards?

Thanks @EricL  - but in the end, rightly or wrongly, I went with "Selleys liquid nails rapid cure ultimate strength." I wanted the glue to 'expand' between the joints and as it does, wipe it with turps. I guess time will tell.  🤔

Re: How to replace floating floor boards?

In the end I pretty much gave up on the multi-tool and went with a 'carefully' adjusted blade height on a mini-saw. Saved a lotta time.

Re: How to replace floating floor boards?

I only had four boards left. Does Bunnings still sell them?

I don't know what the young woman is whispering, probably - "look what this idiot is doing Greta!"

Re: How to replace floating floor boards?

I could manage to lock two long sides on two replacement boards. I could lock one end in - but all the rest were glued.

Two glued ends as indicated.

Re: How to replace floating floor boards?

The biggest issue was the last board. You cannot lock both sides in - one side has to drop in with a 'lip' remaining.

Cut with a very accurate Elu table saw...

The required edge - seen at the top...

Re: How to replace floating floor boards?

Glued in place - with weight from old railway line steel.

And now I wait.  😬

See, I told you @Noyade—all the faith in the world. Lovely job!

If you can show me the brand and the colouring I can check to see if they are still made.

Thanks Mitchell! 😊 @MitchellMc

The lengths are odd, but the joins are OK. Time will tell.

Looks "reasonably" good.

"brand and the colouring"

Should there be more details on the box?

Cheers.

Re: How to replace floating floor boards?

Hi @Noyade,

It doesn't appear that Euro Home is one of our suppliers. Would this have been purchased from us some time ago?
