How to repair rotten weatherboard?

Hi experts, our old awning fell down and the weather board needs repair as it is rotton by water.  

Please advice what materials to buy and take to DYI renovation of the outdoor weather board as shown on photos

Thanks for sharing your question about repairing your old awning.

First order of business is to find out what size the old timber piece is. Once you have that information, I propose going to the store and getting the same size of timber in H3. That means that it is treated and can withstand insect attacks and is rated for outdoor use.

To increase its protection, I suggest painting it before reinstalling the sunshade fabric. Once you've screwed the timber back onto your wall, I propose covering the edge where the timber and wall meet with Selleys 430g White No More Gaps Exterior Gap Filler. This will prevent water from sitting in the gap and make the wood last longer.
