Hi,
I have a 60s house which I have replaced all of the window coverings. I'm left with these springs in the windowsill and cannot remove for the life of me.
Any tips on how to remove them with minimal damage
to the windowsill?
Thanks
Hi @Fitzhouse,
I'm not completely knowledgeable on this arrangement, but I would presume the spring is screwed onto a threaded bolt in the timberwork. I'd start by trying to grip the spring with pliers and pulling straight up. Failing that working, which I suspect it will due to the spring being threaded onto the bolt, I would take a small flathead screwdriver and try to pry the arm out of the timberwork. You'll then likely be able to unscrew the spring off the bolt. Once the spring is removed, use pliers to grip the bolt and unscrew it from the timberwork.
Please let me know how you go or if you have any questions.
