Hi,
I need to remove this screw from my window to remove the lock mechanism which is broken.
They are very long screws and it’s jammed and partly worn.
The third photo is what I have already tried.
I was thinking possibly Locking pliers? Can you advise on what’s best please?
I do not own a power drill.
Thanks!
Hi @Coco_M,
Here's a trick that's got me out of a bind several times in the past. Take your multi-grip pliers and open them up around 25mm. Grip the handle of your Phillips head screwdriver with them. Place the screwdriver tip on the screw and push down on the back of the screwdriver handle whilst using the pliers as a handle to turn it. This allows you to put considerably more force into turning the screw. It's essential to push down on the back of the screwdriver to stop it popping out of the screw head.
Failing that, the next thing I would try would be locking pliers, as you can clamp them onto the screw head.
Please let me know how you go.
