Hi, can't for the life work out how to remove spindle on a Gainsborough privacy set. I'm looking for a small button to depress but this spindle does not appear to have one.
I do not know what series this set is
Hi @markge,
Can you please show us the otherside so we can compare? It appears that the spindle pulls out in that direction as it is crimped which wouldn't allow it to push through. I suspect there would be something on the otherside not pictured, which needs to be released so the spindle can be pulled out.
You mentioned previously that there was a detent that depresses on this spindle and the new one, and that was the information I was providing above. In your image, I don't see any detent or ball bearing that can be depressed.

Hello @markge
Can you please tell us the exact model of the Gainsborough privacy set that you have or perhaps a photo of its handle and door flange. Once we have that information, we should be able to track down the installation manual for that privacy set.

Hi @markge,
I note the spindle is crimped on both sides, which I would presume would make it hard/impossible to slide out. Perhaps the central part slides out with it. Try moving the section I've pointed to below. Try flicking it to the other side or pressing it down. It could be a release mechanism.

Ok my apologies it is a Lemaar handle set. I gave up and called a locksmith and the way to u do the spindle is by Alan key inside the end of the spindle. Thanks for all your help and new Gainsborough handle now installed.
Thanks for the update, @markge, and I'm glad you got it sorted. Knowing the answer is an Allen key in the central shaft will be handy for anyone coming across this discussion with a similar issue.
