How to rejuvenate oxidised anodised black window frames?

Hi all,

I’m looking for some guidance on how to address a problem with the external black anodised frames on my house Stegbar windows. The windows were installed about 25 years ago, and over time, the anodised coating has developed signs of oxidation. The underlying aluminium is still in good condition, but the black surface has started to look dull and weathered.

I’ve attached a few images to show the extent of the oxidation. You can see that while the aluminium frames themselves are structurally fine, the appearance of the oxidised coating is detracting from the overall look of the house.

Has anyone dealt with a similar issue, or do you have any recommendations for bringing these anodised frames back to life and maintaining the finish? Any advice or suggestions for products or methods would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Rejuvenating Oxidised Anodised Black Window Frames

Hi @Lawzy,

Thank you for your question about restoring your anodised aluminium window frames.

My suggestion is to give them a good clean some warm soapy water and a microfibre cloth. This will remove any dirt or grime which is a good first step.

Once clean, use some Autosol Anodized Aluminium Polish which can be ordered through your local store's Special Orders desk.

You can then use a clean microfibre cloth to apply the polish and work it in a circular motion to bring back the shine.

Let me know what you think and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Jacob
