Just passing on what I've learnt and ensuring safety 😀
Thank you for all your suggestions. Unable to try any as yet, as we have 2 babies to leave the nest. Checked with Solar company and warranty ok as long as we don't touch the electrics. Will advise what works when we have succeeded with stopping them returning to nest.
Hi @Madden,
Sorry to come into this topic so late.
One term, bird spikes........
We use these on our transformers and associated cables here in New Zealand.
Check this out: https://www.bunnings.co.nz/jack-250-x-110-x-70mm-stainless-steel-pest-control-bird-spike-4-pack_p304...
Bear in mind this is the NZ Bunnings site, but the product is the same.
If birds can't land, they can't roost, because their wings won't close when they land.
All you need is a pack of cable ties and possibly some supports for the spikes.
Is this anything or nothing?, if not, let us know.
Cheers,
Mike T.
Hi @Madden,
Hope all is well. Just checking in to see if the babies have left the nest as yet? Have you been able to make any progress?
There's been considerable interest in this discussion so I'm sure other community members would appreciate you keeping us updated with your chosen solution.
Thanks,
Jason
Slow progress babies have flown nest. Put up two owls one stopping them getting under solar panel other to stop perching on roof. Had some success only two keep coming back. Going to try spikes on roof to stop them perching.
Hello @Madden
Thank you for the update, it's good to know that the owls have reduced the number of pigeons coming into your solar panels.
