How to plaster a brick wall?
Hi! I have pulled out the built in wardrobes from my bedrooms. I am wanting to plaster over the ceiling and walls. How can I best prep these walls to install plaster?

Re: Plastering a brick wall
Hi @EllieBee,
Thank you for your question.
The first thing I've noticed is the cracking in the wall, both in the mortar lines and through the bricks.
It's one thing to have cracks in the mortar, but you have cracks in a number of bricks with one significant fissure running down the left side of the wall. This indicates a potentially significant issue, especially if this wall is supporting the structure above. I would strongly suggest you have this wall assessed and deemed safe before proceeding with any kind of aesthetic work on the wall.
Once a suitably qualified person advises you are fine to proceed, then the process would be what my colleague @MitchellMc has detailed in How to render interior wall?
Check out How To Render and How To Apply a Top Coat To Render.
On an internal wall, you can use Hardwall Plaster as your topcoat for a smoother, glossier finish that can then be painted.
Let me know what you think and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Hi Jacob, thanks so much for pointing that out! Who would be the best trade to assess this?

Re: Plastering a brick wall
Hi @EllieBee,
You'd want to contact either a structural engineer or a licenced builder specialising in brick construction.
Let me know if you have any further questions.
