I would like to replace the hollow type door on a bedroom with a Hume Solidcore for soundproofing reasons. The door I had in mind is: https://www.bunnings.com.au/hume-2040-x-820-x-35mm-external-door-duracote-flush-solicore-scx1_p19717...
The existing door frame is metal with two 100mm hinges incorporated (welded) to the frame. The existing door is 2030 x 815 x 35 mm. The doorframe is 2045 x 825 x 35mm.
Can I get a Bunnings installer to install the solidcore door, weighing 35 to 38 kg, using the existing two hinges? I'm happy to accept any risk of not using 3 hinges.
Cheers
Jac
Hello @JAC6163
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about hanging your door on two hinges.
Before you book the installation, I propose asking the installer about the doors weight, the hinges may or may not support the weight, but it's important that the installer be made aware of this fact so that there will be no surprises on the day of installation. Technically you will have a chance to speak to the installer before they come to your place. If you have photos of the hinges and the door you wish to have installed it's best to send them this information so that they'll have solutions to offer when they see you.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
