How to get water stain marks out of tiles?

Hi all,

I was washing some dining chairs with some baking soda and warm water to get rid of years of gunk, and some of gunky water dropped on the floor. Since I was going to mop soon after, I left the water on the floor to clean other things and then mopped the whole floor maybe 10 minutes later.

As you can see in the photos, the water that was on the floor has imprinted stains on the tiles from my sandals and from wiping up excess gunky water with a cloth. I’ve tried mopping it again, using vinegar, hot water, cold water, to no avail! This is my first time dealing with cleaning floor tiles and i'm worried I've ruined them.

Does anyone have a solution?

Re: How to get water stain marks out of tiles

Hello @sarzc

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us and thanks for sharing your question about cleaning your tile floors.

I suggest using CLR Kitchen and Bathroom.  It removes calcium, limescale, dirt and soap scum, common issues found in bathroom and kitchen areas such as sinks, shower screens, bathtubs, kitchen benches, toilet surfaces, taps and handles.

I also suspect that the water had some oil and grease mixed into. I also recommend using DIGGERS 1L Water Based Degreaser. Please make sure to test a small area first to make sure that it does not harm your floors finish. If the results are satisfactory, you can then commit the entire flooring area.

My only other idea is to use a steam mop to melt and absorb the residue that's stuck to your tiles.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Eric
