Hi, we tried doing a feature wall, it turned out very streaky and splotchy after 4 coats, apparently we should have done a gray primer undercoat first but we didnt know that before hand, how would we go about fixing this so it looks good? Thanks
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @notryan. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about painting a wall.
So sorry to hear you're experiencing issues painting your wall.
At this stage, it's a bit hard to tell what the best way forward would be. It's my opinion that applying two more coats should block out the underlying colour, though it's a bit concerning that four coats have not already. You could apply a grey primer now, but I'd suggest you'd need two coats and then two more of the top coat. So, that would be four more layers to prime now. I'd probably go with two more coats of the colour, hoping it fills in.
You now have a great deal of paint on the wall and only more to follow. It would be best to leave the paint as is for a few days to dry out fully before continuing.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

There are many reasons for loving this site @notryan - and one of them for me, is it jogs my memory.
I showed your photo to my wife and...
Yes, we painted the same colour to a wall in 1990.
Yes, I now remember the vital grey undercoat.
Yes, I remember Bristol Paints thinking we were young and dumb.
But it did look good - to us. 😁
Would it be worthwhile to let the paint dry - grey undercoat - paint again?
Where is your paint from?
Cheers and good luck!
Thanks,
We used british paints with a 9mm nap roller, which was probably an error, would it be worthwhile to go over it in the same colour in dulux wash and wear +superhide? Would this help?
Thanks
That's an option, @notryan. If you speak with our Paint Experts in-store, they'll be able to determine whether the Super Hide has the correct base from which to mix your colour. I suspect it will cover better than the British Paints.
