How to fix broken metal hook?
this is a Christmas stocking holder/hook and the hook broke off when it was dropped. I don’t know what sort of metal it is made of. I’m a bit familiar with soldering having done some silver jewellery making. I’m just not sure whether I should attempt it on this piece. (I have a soldering iron but would need to obtain flux and solder)
Obviously the join and possibly some area around it would not be the same gold colour. If I didn’t want to attempt it myself what type of trade person might be able to help?

Re: could i solder this back together?
There will be very little chance of soldering some unknown alloy metals through any process.
A mig welder might have a chance
I highly recommend Aralditing SUPER STRENGTH glue the hook on. Also add an additional glue surface area brace behind the hook
The problem is skinny hook small area to glue too.
Solution
Using your jewellery making skills I would make a triangle shaped metal tap to go behind the hook to increase the glue holding surface area.
Cut it out of a aluminium drink can,

Re: could i solder this back together?
Hi @Coolaholigah,
Thank you for your question and please accept my apologies for the delayed response.
@Jewelleryrescue has already given the advice I would in this situation.
Soldered metal is not typically capable of supporting weight and considering its use as a stocking holder, I imagine it would need to support weight.
Welding is a better option, but as Jewelleryrescue has mentioned, you would need to know what kind of metal it is. If you want to explore this option, you could look for metal fabricators and welders in your area using a service such as True Local or HiPages. They may be able to identify the metal and offer a solution that will work for you.
Araldite Super Strength Epoxy Glue seems like a good option.
Let me know if you have any further questions.

Re: could i solder this back together?
Thank you both.
I will give the glue a try. Nothing to lose!
