Need help.
Doing renovations and phone line got damaged so cut thinking I don't need it.
Seems the NBN connection upstairs is piggy backing off this and that went down as a result.
I've reconnected the wires as they were but still can't get the connection back.
Internet provider doesn't see an issue on there end. And advice would be helpful. Would like to just put the connection behind the wall as don't need this where it is.
Hello @Jay44 your internet service is what they refer to as FTTN fibre to the node (copper wire to the home), by cutting and then re-joining those wires you have added 2 more connections, may as well delete those crimp connectors and have just one join, do you own a soldering iron?
When you say "got damaged" did it get yanked... ie. tripped over or similar? These wires are single core and are quite fragile, I am wondering if in addition to the cut the wires were fractured else where along the cable?

Damaged the base plate. Wires wouldn't have been damaged elsewhere.
Thanks. Still no internet connection. Pretty sure there connected well enough.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's marvellous to have you join us and thanks for sharing your question about your phone line.
It is difficult to tell what kind of damage has occurred to the connection without having it tested. I suggest engaging the services of a registered telecom technician to diagnose the connection.

All fixed. I wired it back correctly.
Turned out the modem had a fault at the same time. New modem nill issues. Thanks all.
@EricL is on the ball here. Without correct testing methods and equipment you are flying blind.
As far as joining methods it should be done with Scotch Locks as they have moisture resistant gel in the lock along with not exposing to much copper.
Soldering or BP connections can lead to other issues down the track if moisture is present (Oxidation).
As Eric suggested a registered Telco Tech or a Sparky with Telco Licence should have this diagnosed and rectified in no time.

Late to the party problem has bene solved, And yeah id have done exactly whatyou did (Im an ex telstra tech) Always a pain in the you know what when there are more issues then just one.

I've never been a fan of Crimp or BP connectors, properly done a soldered connection has both a mechanical connection and a bonded connection, whilst I can appreciate the waterproofing of the specialised scotch telecommunications connectors they are after all designed for rapid deployment (in inhospitable environments like service pits) as a time saving solution, a soldered connection should never be left exposed.
All in all the solution has been reached so a win for @Jay44 regardless 👍
