How to fill gap between Colorbond and barge board in building exterior?

We had a small extension built but there is a gap between the colorbond sheeting and the barge boards.  Any suggestions how to fix this without removing and re-sheeting. Will this affect the building integrity. (it passed its final inspection).

Is it possible to get a wider shot that gives a bit more context to the extension? 

The screw lines up with the framing, but what is it that I can see here?

If the extension is meant to be weathertight, then this is certainly not an ideal way to clad the exterior, but I think I have a solution that is not too intrusive and wouldn't require you to fully remove the sheets.

You may need to loosen off the lowest screw to allow for some movement, but you should be able to slip a Metal Mate 50 x 25 x 1.6mm Aluminium Unequal Angle under the bottom edge of the Colorbond.

You can use Liquid Nails and Zenith 8G x 20mm Galvanised Button Head Metal Screws to fix it in place.

Thanks for the advice.  The white stuff you can see if the polystyrene underfloor insulation.

That makes perfect sense and the solution I've provided is still what I'd go with, especially because you don't want any water getting anywhere near your insulation.

It will also be worthwhile sealing the bottom edge against the timber barge boards with some outdoor silicone. This will prevent any water trickling underneath it and getting in behind.
