How to colour match Duraseal Antique Brown floor stain?

IMG_1450.jpeg

Hello,

We have two different floor stain colours we are wanting to match.

The colour we are wanting to match is Duraseal Antique Brown, but we are having difficulty finding this product for sale in Australia.

Does anyone have any recommendations for an alternative brand, that has a colour that would closely match Duraseal Antique Brown?

For the area we are trying to match, we are intending on sanding the floor, applying the Duraseal alternative and then a protective top coat. Any recommendations for the protective top coat would also be appreciated.

The photo shows the two floor stains. The darker colour is Duraseal Antique Brown.

Thank you!!

Re: How to colour match Duraseal Antique Brown floor stain?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @jasmothy. It's tremendous to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about matching stains.

Matching a stain colour can be tricky, especially when switching to a different brand, as there may be subtle differences in tone. To get the best match, I recommend doing some test sections on your timber using different stain options.

If you can, take a sample of your timber with the Antique Brown product on it into your local store. Our team can have a look and help point out some similar colours in the stains we stock. They can also guide you on which products might work best with your flooring and achieve a comparable finish. Also if you can take a sanded section of the timber to be coated in, the team might be able to apply some stains in-store for you to see.

The choice of topcoat will depend on the type and brand of stain you go with, as some stains require specific compatible finishes. Once you’ve decided on a stain, the team in-store can recommend suitable protective topcoats for your floors.

Some stains that would be worth looking at could be Feast Watson 250ml Mahogany Prooftint Interior Stain, Feast Watson 250ml Teak Brown Prooftint Interior Stain and Feast Watson 250ml Walnut Prooftint Interior Stain.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Mitchell
