Re: 3x4 meter deck cheap version

Hi @Mareeanne7,

Thank you for your post and welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

Were you currently in the planning stage for a 3x4 metre deck and are looking for cost effective options?

You might like to check out the 1116 x 1116mm Modular Decking Kit from Good Times as a potential option for you. Multiple frames can be connected together to create a larger deck and the 50mm Modular Decking Adjustable Support Foot can be used to support them on uneven surfaces.

You might like to have a look at @martyjames' project How to build a small deck using modular decking kit and adjustable supports as an example of this products potential.

You can also have a look at our Top 10 most popular deck projects for some inspiration and How to build a deck for some guidance on the construction process.

If you had some more details, I'd be happy to assist further.

Re: How to build a budget-priced deck?

Hi @Mareeanne7

The really cheap and relatively quick way is not to try and put concrete footings in. Instead use treated pine sleepers to make a framework with cross members and lay it directly on the ground (you can partially bury it to get the height you want) just scrape the ground flat to make sure it is all level then nail your boards to that. The treated pine sleepers can last around 15 to 20 years in the ground.

Edited to add...... Wear dust masks while working with the treated pine as the dust will contain some very nasty chemicals and do not burn any off cuts due to the same chemicals in the smoke!
