Hi Folks,

This door is in our main bedroom. The screen door has got lock but not the diamond grille door. We would like to have this lock in the outside door so that we can lock it and sleep safely with cool air coming in during this summer night.

Any chances we can have a fresh lock installed in this existing outside diamond grille door ?

Thank you.

Re: How to add lock on diamond grille door

Hi @Sugar,

It appears that there was a lock there at one time, as indicated by the holes in the frame. It could have quite possibly been something similar to the Rolltrak Black Sliding Screen Door Lock. However, the latching mechanism on the frame is a small fitting, unlike what's required for the above lock. This might have been a proprietary locking system designed to suit your door. If so, it might be worth looking for a brand name on the door so you can contact them for spare parts.

It might be possible to retrofit the above lock on your frame. Is there a cutout on the side of the sliding door?

A more simplified lock mechanism like the Rolltrak Screen Door Latch Set could possibly be used. If something like that doesn't work, a simple way of holding the door closed would be to install a barrel bolt at the top or bottom of the door.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Mitchell
