One of the window frames facing the sun is cracked. Can I replace the damaged part with new timber, secure it with nails or glue on the inside, sand it, and repaint it? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

You’re on the right track with replacing the damaged part with new timber, but first, it's important to assess whether the timber behind the frame, especially near the window, also needs replacement.
