December is here, which means the festive season is round the corner.
How is everyone decorating their home and getting it ready for entertaining friends and family?
If anyone is looking for ideas, I recommend checking out this list of festive decoration ideas, which includes table centrepieces, D.I.Y. Christmas trees, and decorations for living areas and outdoors.
Our resident D.I.Y. expert @MitchellMc has also compiled some simple D.I.Y. decorations for the festive season. It contains useful step-by-step guides and handy instructions on how to make your own decorations.
Let us know if you need a hand with your festive projects. We’d be happy to help.

Thank you @Akanksha I'm delighted you like them.
The renovation is going well, nothing like a few delays and hurdles but we should have the pool area and the sunroom finished before Christmas so I will share when we do. You can appreciate each project rolls into the next so although these areas are finished the ones beside them still need attention. 😂
Thanks Claire
Hi @Akanksha,
I really like that lighting in your picture, I'm not sure I would go that far but it looks great!
Cheers,

This is also the time of the year to think about electrical safety outdoors.
Just because it isn't raining when you put your lights up, you need to think about where your power supplies for this gear is.
Keep them away from water and always have an RCD on anything you use outdoors.
Always test your RCD before you start this sort of gear up, if the RCD trips, disconnect the plugs into it, retest it, if it trips again, call an electrician.
There is no excuse for not using an RCD on outdoor equipment, this is how people get electrocuted.

Hi @MikeTNZ
Thank you for that timely reminder to keep electrical safety at the top of your list when installing your holiday lights and accessories. Use waterproof covers and keep your cables away from water so that everyone will be safe.

100% Mate great advice, don't overload powerboards by daisy chaining them inside polystyrene boxes with a brick on top (yep you know your guilty if your passing the phone to your husband).
She is fine they were off and there were low voltage as well thanks for asking.
Hi @CSParnell,

Do you know something about this method of installation?
Ha Ha Ha
Compliments of the season! 😂

I had an ex Mother Inlaw that was like the Griswalds I'll just leave that there
Hi @CSParnell
Mate, I was a faults-man for the local Power Board years ago and I used to dread Christmas morning.
Things like, " our Christmas lights are tripping out the oven and the turkey is going to die!!"
Or " We've had the oven going for the last 5 hours and there was a loud bang from the switch-board, now nothing works at all"
I don't miss that at all........
The problem is they took the ability away from us to replace the fuse wire with a nail 😄
