Hi all,
I thought it may he good to have a feed where we could share any tips and tricks to do with any of the Grid Connect Range being Arlec, Deta, Verve, Orion.
I am learning from trial and error and really just accident so sharing with others and sharing back we may be able to create some good learning information for us all.
Please post below starting with what the trick is as the title then how to do so as the body of information.
Carl
Thanks for writing that long suggestion but I am afraid you have misinterpreted something I wrote.
I do not have a new internet service. I have been on the service I am on (NBN Skymuster satellite) for years.
My point was that being on satellite internet is the only slightly unusual thing about my setup.
I am well aware of the 2.4GHz vs 5 GHz network issue. I have been using Grid Connect devices for several years. I have never had a pairing issue with any of the other at least 20 Grid Connect devices I am using.
That is my whole point! I have never had an issue with any GC device before. It is only the Orion SC002HA camera that has given me an issue.
Michell,
I took your suggestion and contacted Arlec support again. I have always found Arlec support to be quite good in the past. However, this time I am getting the unfortunate "We will ignore everything you have told us and give you the standard basic response we give everyone" type of "support".
What has happened to Arlec support?
Ian
Hi again Ian (@w0mbat)
It’s clear that you’ve gone above and beyond to troubleshoot the issue, especially given your experience with other Grid Connect devices.
If Arlec can’t offer a resolution, I’d be more than happy to assist in organising a return or exchange for a different model. Perhaps another camera might better suit your needs and avoid this compatibility issue altogether.

@w0mbat no problemo sometimes it's hard to interpret over threads, last thought camera firmware update?
@w0mbat you can always try the SmartLife app instead of Grid Connect as well I have the SC002HA running inside SmartLife no problems at all
Hi, while looking back over footage of my Orion Grid playback I noticed a black/dark grey stripe down one section of the screen. The only thing I can think is that this has been deleted. Can anyone give me any knowledge on if I’m right or if there’s other possibilities?
TIA!
Hi @emily22,
A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.
Did the stripe appear in all files recorded by your camera? Or was it only in a small section of the recording?
A stripe in your footage could be due to a corrupted data file, an issue with file compression, or maybe even a malfunctioning sensor in the camera.
If there are any software updates, I would start by ensuring they are installed.
Outside of this, it would be hard to offer further advice. Your best solution may be to contact Orion on 1300 267 168 in Australia or 0800 003 329 in New Zealand as their support team are better equipped to assist with issues of this nature.
Allow me to tag @CSParnell to see if he has any ideas.
Let me know what you think.
Jacob
Hi Emily,
Is the fault still there?
If so as Jacob says could be a corrupt SD card so might be worth first reformatting it and try recording some footage and see if it is still there,
If still there swap out the SD card with another card that is known to be working fine or new and repeat the recording step above.
If still there then I would also tend to think a CCD (Camera Chip) issue but it could be any section of the electronics.
If under warranty return to your local Bunnings and they will help you out, if outside of warranty give Grid Connect a call see if they know anything else like Jacob mentioned.
Hi, recently my grid connect app wiped all of my data and devices after an update.
I've successfully added back 3 of my 7 smart globes. Strangely it is the oldest globes that easily reconnected.
The 4 newest globes will not enter pairing mode (i.e flash rapidly or slowly).
I've tried different light sockets, turning the lights off for a while and trying again, leaving the lights on and trying again, switching them on and off multiple times.
But it doesn't matter what I do, they won't start flashing. They stay on.
I even took them out of the light fitting for 24 hours to see if that would help, but no luck.
Any help on how to get them into pairing mode would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
I have a set of 4 Grid Connect smart lights (Deta RGB +white Grid Connect Smart LED downlight). The app lets me select ‘music sync’ and I’ve allowed microphone. But when music is playing nothing happens with lights?
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @KayEm. It's sensational to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about Grid Connect globes.
Given the troubleshooting you've already tried, it would be best to contact the Grid Connect technical team directly so they can assist you further. They typically ask you to go through a number of steps to get a better idea of what's happening and to help resolve the issue. If they are unable to resolve the issue, they'll generally send out replacement globes or arrange for an in-store exchange.
Let me also tag @CSParnell to see if they have any thoughts.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
