Fixing gaps in bricks left from skirting board removal

Hi, i removed skirting boards to lay a floor. My place is double brick and some of the boards had been nailed into wood wedged between bricks. What can I fill the gaps with? Also have some plaster damage where the wall just crumbled (1st photo). What can I use to repair? Do I need to? I will be replacing the skirting once I have a floor. Thanks

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @crisis. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about repairing a wall.

You can fill the gaps with a flexible caulking gap filler to ensure any slight movement doesn’t cause cracks. For the crumbling plaster, it’s best to repair it before installing the new skirting to create a solid, even surface. Use a patching compound or hardwall plaster to rebuild the damaged section, making sure to smooth it out for a seamless finish. Let it dry completely before sanding, priming and painting.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
